“Did law school prepare you to be a lawyer? It’s a serious question.”
That was the opening line of the President’s page for the March/April 2023 issue of the Florida Bar Journal.
Based on our conversations with attorneys, the answer is “No.” And it prepared you even less to be an attorney and a business owner.
Despite the overwhelming number of attorneys who run their own law firm, many are (barely) managing to do so with little to no business education, training, or experience. Solo practitioners are forced to balance legal tasks with business tasks, both of which need their attention, as they struggle to be both an attorney and business owner.
In addition to their case load, solo practitioners have to handle planning and strategy, finance and accounting, marketing and sales, customer service, hiring and human resources, legal and compliance, day-to-day operations, training, addressing technology issues, and more. It may be tempting to just try to do everything yourself, but the truth of the matter is that is not sustainable and will lead to your burnout.
The good news is that Attorney Services is here to help!
In additional to assisting with various paralegal tasks, we can assist with creating, implementing, and maintaining procedures for all of your law firm’s operational needs, including case and file management (including keeping you on task!), billing, marketing and client acquisition, task management, and much more.
